Questions?
We have answers.
Whether you’re booking your first physiotherapy appointment, joining a community event, or curious about Rehab Pilates, we’ve answered many of the questions we hear most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
Getting Started
Everything you need to know before your first visit.
-
No. In Ontario, you can book an appointment with a physiotherapist directly—no doctor’s referral is required.
However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement. If you’re unsure about your coverage, we recommend checking with your insurance provider before your appointment.
-
Your first visit is all about understanding you—not just your injury.
Your physiotherapist will discuss your medical history, lifestyle, goals, and concerns before performing a thorough movement assessment. Together, you’ll create a personalized treatment plan that may include hands-on therapy, education, exercise, and recommendations to help you recover confidently.
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
Depending on the area being assessed, we may ask you to expose part of the body being examined (for example, shorts for a knee injury or a tank top for a shoulder assessment). If you’re unsure, simply wear loose, comfortable clothing and we’ll guide you during your visit.
-
Appointment lengths vary depending on the service you’ve booked.
Our initial physiotherapy assessments are typically 60 minutes, allowing ample time for a comprehensive assessment, discussion of your goals, and the development of a personalized treatment plan.
Most follow-up physiotherapy appointments are 30 or 45 minutes, depending on your needs and the type of treatment being provided.
Specific appointment durations are displayed when booking online. If you’re unsure which appointment length is right for you, we’re always happy to help.
-
Yes.
Appointments can be booked online at any time through our secure booking system. If you’re unsure which service to choose, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help you find the most appropriate appointment.
-
That’s completely okay.
Whether you’re experiencing pain, recovering from an injury, looking to improve strength, or wondering if Rehab Pilates is right for you, our team can help you choose the best place to start. Simply contact us, and we’ll guide you based on your goals and concerns.
-
Absolutely.
You’re welcome to bring a family member, caregiver, or support person if it helps you feel more comfortable during your appointment. Children are also welcome when appropriate, and we strive to create a welcoming environment for people of all ages.
Insurance & Payment
Everything you need to know about direct billing, insurance coverage, and payment options.
-
Yes. We offer direct billing to many major extended health insurance providers whenever possible.
Coverage and eligibility vary depending on your insurance plan. If direct billing is available, we’ll do our best to submit your claim on your behalf to make the process as simple as possible.
-
We work with many major Canadian insurance providers.
Because coverage differs between plans—even within the same insurance company—we recommend checking your individual benefits before your appointment. If you’re unsure, our team is happy to help you understand your coverage.
-
If your insurance only covers part of your treatment, you’ll simply be responsible for paying the remaining balance.
We’ll always explain your fees clearly and provide any receipts needed for reimbursement.
-
Yes.
Payment is due at the time of your appointment unless other arrangements have been made.
If direct billing is available, you’ll only be responsible for any portion not covered by your insurance plan.
-
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and other electronic payment methods.
Specific payment options may vary as our clinic opens.
-
In many cases, yes.
If your Health Spending Account covers physiotherapy services, we’ll provide an official receipt that you can submit for reimbursement according to your plan’s requirements.
Physiotherapy
Learn more about the conditions we treat and how physiotherapy can help you move with confidence.
-
Our physiotherapists assess and treat a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, neck and back pain, joint pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain, concussion, balance and mobility concerns, and women’s health conditions.
If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy is right for your situation, we’d be happy to help you decide.
-
Yes.
Physiotherapy isn’t only for recent injuries. Many people seek treatment for persistent or recurring pain that has been affecting their daily life for months or even years.
Our goal is to understand the factors contributing to your symptoms and develop a personalized treatment plan that helps you move with greater confidence and improve your quality of life.
-
Not at all.

Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, experiencing workplace-related pain, or simply finding everyday activities more difficult, we’re here to help.
-
Your treatment plan is tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Depending on your assessment, treatment may include hands-on therapy, movement assessment, therapeutic exercise, education, rehabilitation, Clinical Pilates, strength and balance training, and guidance on managing your condition at home.
-
In most cases, yes.
Recovery doesn’t stop when your appointment ends. Your physiotherapist may recommend home exercises and practical strategies to help you continue making progress between visits. These exercises are selected specifically for your condition, goals, and lifestyle.
-
In some cases, yes.
Many musculoskeletal conditions improve with appropriate physiotherapy and exercise. While physiotherapy cannot replace surgery when surgery is medically necessary, it may help reduce pain, improve function, and in some situations delay or even avoid surgery. Your physiotherapist will discuss the most appropriate treatment options based on your individual condition.
-
Absolutely.
Healthy aging is an important part of our clinic’s mission. We help older adults improve strength, balance, mobility, confidence, and independence through personalized physiotherapy, rehabilitation exercise, and community movement programs such as Tea & Mobility.
-
Yes.
We welcome children and adolescents for appropriate physiotherapy services. Treatment is always tailored to the child’s age, stage of development, and individual needs, and parents or caregivers are encouraged to be involved throughout the rehabilitation process.
Rehab Pilates & Rehabilitation Gym
Discover how movement, strength, and personalized exercise can support your recovery and long-term health.
-
Rehab Pilates is a form of Clinical Pilates guided by a trained healthcare professional. Unlike fitness-focused Pilates classes, Rehab Pilates is tailored to your individual needs and is often used to support recovery from injury, surgery, persistent pain, pregnancy, or movement limitations.
Our goal is to help you improve strength, control, balance, and confidence in movement at a pace that’s right for you.
-
Not at all.
Many of our clients are completely new to Pilates. Your program is individualized and progresses at a pace that matches your experience, goals, and physical abilities.
-
Rehab Pilates is designed to support rehabilitation and improve movement quality rather than general fitness alone.
Sessions are individualized and may be integrated into your physiotherapy treatment plan. Your clinician carefully selects exercises based on your assessment, helping you build strength and confidence while working within your current abilities.
-
ehab Pilates may be appropriate for people recovering from injury or surgery, those experiencing persistent pain, older adults looking to improve balance and strength, women during pregnancy or postpartum, and anyone wanting to move with greater confidence under professional guidance.
If you’re unsure whether Rehab Pilates is right for you, we’d be happy to discuss your goals.
-
A rehabilitation gym is a supervised space where exercise becomes part of your treatment—not just your workout.
At Larch House, our rehabilitation gym allows your clinician to guide you through progressive strength, balance, mobility, and functional exercises that help bridge the gap between hands-on treatment and confidently returning to everyday life, work, or sport.
-
Our rehabilitation gym is designed to complement your care.
Some programs may require an initial assessment to ensure exercises are appropriate for your needs and goals. Depending on the program, supervised small-group classes or movement sessions may also be available.
-
Absolutely.
Research consistently shows that appropriate movement and exercise are among the most effective tools for improving many musculoskeletal conditions. While hands-on treatment can help reduce pain, exercise helps build lasting strength, resilience, and confidence so you can continue progressing outside the clinic.
-
Yes.
Depending on your goals and the program, we offer both individualized sessions and selected small-group classes. This allows you to receive the level of guidance that’s most appropriate for your stage of recovery while benefiting from a supportive and encouraging environment.
