Rehab Pilates Lead & Community Movement Coordinator

Aline Marques de Castro has a background in Physiotherapy and brings more than 15 years of experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, injury prevention, and Pilates. Throughout her career in Brazil, she has helped people reduce pain, restore movement, improve physical function, and regain confidence through individualized, evidence-informed rehabilitation.

Her passion for rehabilitation is deeply personal. As a teenager, Aline developed severe scoliosis that ultimately required major corrective spinal surgery. Years of rehabilitation shaped not only her understanding of movement and recovery but also her appreciation for the physical and emotional challenges that often accompany persistent pain. Living with the long-term effects of spinal surgery continues to influence the empathy, patience, and encouragement she brings to every person she works with.

Aline graduated in Physiotherapy from São Camilo University in Brazil and completed postgraduate studies in Exercise Physiology. Throughout her career, she has continued to expand her knowledge through professional education in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, biomechanics, chronic pain management, therapeutic exercise, functional training, and Pilates, always guided by evidence-informed practice.

Rehabilitation-Based Pilates has been a central part of Aline’s professional practice for many years. She views Pilates as a therapeutic movement approach that complements rehabilitation by improving movement quality, posture, strength, mobility, balance, body awareness, and confidence. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, her goal is to help people move more efficiently, recover more confidently, and safely return to the activities they enjoy.

Throughout her career, Aline has worked in private rehabilitation clinics, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and specialized Pilates studios. These diverse clinical settings strengthened her ability to perform comprehensive movement assessments and develop individualized rehabilitation programs that reflect each person’s goals, lifestyle, and stage of recovery.

Aline believes lasting recovery happens when people become active participants in their own rehabilitation. By combining therapeutic exercise, Rehabilitation-Based Pilates, movement education, and progressive strengthening, she helps individuals develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to stay active long after rehabilitation has ended.

She also has extensive experience delivering virtual rehabilitation and Pilates programs, successfully adapting exercises to home environments while maintaining a personalized and supportive approach.

Now based in Canada, Aline brings the rehabilitation philosophy, movement expertise, and patient-centred approach developed throughout her career in Brazil to the Larch House Physio & Movement team.

Above all, Aline believes rehabilitation is about more than reducing pain. It’s about helping people regain confidence in their bodies, return to the activities they love, and build the strength and knowledge to stay active for years to come.
